1. Go to bed an hour earlier
It goes without saying that if you would like to wake up an hour earlier, then you should go to sleep an hour earlier. This allows you to still have plenty of rest before you start your day. You aren’t likely to wake up early if you were up all night binge-watching your favorite television series on Netflix.
2. Sleep with the blinds open
If you sleep with the blinds open, then it will let natural light in when the sun rises. Having it light in your bedroom will make it more likely for you to wake up earlier. Natural light can also help you reset your body for the new day.
3. Shut everything down
It is important to shut everything down before you go to sleep. If you are constantly wondering who is texting you, what is being posted to Facebook, or what is going to happen next in the series you’ve been watching, then it is more difficult to go to sleep. You need to shut everything down in order for your brain to relax enough to go to sleep.
4. Get up at the same time every day
Waking up every day at the same time will help set an internal clock. Using the same time every day will progressively help you wake up at that time. Set your alarm at the same time even on weekends in order to help you keep your schedule.
5. Treat yourself
It is much easier to do things if you know that there is a reward at the end. Put together some kind of treat that you will reward yourself with for waking up early. It could be as simple as making yourself a nice breakfast or having time to yourself, because now you have the time for it.
6. Wake up to happy sounds
No one likes waking up because of an annoying sound. Set your alarm to something happy. Perhaps you enjoy the sound of rain or birds chirping. This will allow the first thing that you hear in the morning to be something that is going to make your day better.
7. Skip the snooze
When you wake up and go back to sleep, it is messing up your sleeping cycle. Using the snooze is not always the best idea because of this. If you get out of bed with the first alarm, it will make it more likely that you had a good quality of sleep.
8. Eat breakfast
Imagine that your body is a car and all the food you eat is the fuel. While you are sleeping, your body uses up all the fuel, so you wake up with your tank on empty. It is important that you eat breakfast so that your tank isn’t running on empty until lunch time.
9. Go to the gym
Physical activity helps wipe away fatigue and helps give you energy for the rest of your day. Start your day out right by exercising to give you more energy.
10. Go to sleep when you are tired
This tip seems really straightforward, but it is one that we don’t usually follow. Most of us have a set time that we like to go to bed. When we have had an extremely busy or exhausting day, we tend to ignore the urge to go to bed at the normal time.
