BYUI Rix Stix
Last Thursday night BYU-Idaho’s Rix Stix percussion ensemble held a show in the Snow Concert Hall. Showcasing their talents the Gro opened with a piece written by one of the University’s very own and also performed Classical Compositions that they have been working on since the start of the semester. David Taylor founder and Director of Rix Stix since1992 was happy with the evening and the work of the students.
“You hope to peak the night of the concert and they almost made it. Some of the Pieces were the best we have ever played it. There were a few that had some Rocky spots. But We always make it through. It was a good show I thought.“
Shane Stever, a junior studying Music Composition composed the opening piece “Tom Around.”
“It was my first really big composition. I am pretty proud of it. I really tried to get a variety of instruments played tonight. We played Marimba, base drum. A cole funky instruments and then marimba again. It was a lot of fun, hard work but a lot of fun.”
Sherry and Gary Farnsworth are Rexburg Locals who keep with BYUI events page and look forward to the shows that are put on by the University each semester. “It seems like we are always here. We get to know the students and watch them from year to year and see how much better they are from year to year and the programs have been so good we are never disappointed.”
