With winter just around the corner, there is plenty of time to pick up habits that will not only cause you to have more energy this season, but also be happier. Here are a few tips on how to stray away from the winter blues before the first snowflake falls.
1. Get sunlight
With the days being shorter in the winter, the more sunlight the better. The increase in sunlight the better your mood will be. When the weather starts to get colder, the time spent outdoors is reduced. Lack of sunlight in the winter can cause many people to be seasonally depressed. Try to keep your blinds open and sit near windows to catch the most sunlight that you can.

What you eat and when you eat can affect you mood and energy. During the winter, energy and mood levels decrease and with a healthy diet you can fight the winter blues. Certain foods can leave you feeling tired and lacking concentration. To stay energetic and happy try to eat more complex carbohydrates like oatmeal, pasta, potatoes, beans and stay well hydrated.
