Breaking News: Tornado warning issued in Eastern Idaho

A tornado warning was issued in Eastern Idaho at 3:54 p.m.

The impacted areas include Rexburg, Sugar City, Teton, Parker, St. Anthony, Egin, Plano, Newdale and Southern St. Anthony Sand Dunes, according to the National Weather Service.

Residents are warned to take cover immediately in a basement or the interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building and to avoid windows, according to the National Weather Service.

BYU-Idaho Security and Safety are waiting to send out an emergency alert to BYU-I students, Garth Gunderson, Director of BYU-I Security and Safety, said.

The tornado warning remains in effect until 4:45 p.m.
