Brian Lynch comes to BYU-I

Grammy Award-winning trumpet player Brian Lynch is heading the Winter Jazz Festival Saturday, March 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the John W. Hart Auditorium.

Lynch will play some of his Latin arrangements and there will be an area available for dancing.

Other jazz performers will also perform in the concert, including Kobie Watkins, Vern Sielert, Justin Nielsen, Aaron Miller and Ryan Nielsen.

The BYU-Idaho Sound Alliance jazz ensemble will be playing with Lynch. The Sound Alliance will be directed by Mark Watkins of the Music Department.

Lynch has released 19 critically acclaimed CDs and has toured the world with different ensembles. He won the Best Latin Jazz Album of the Year Grammy in 2007 for his album The Brian Lynch/Eddie Palmieri Recording Project- Simpatico.

Lynch is also a professor of jazz trumpet at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami.

Tickets for the concert are $12 for the public and $6 for BYU-I students.
