A block party in Rexburg Friday night revealed the grand opening of The Burg, a new restaurant that has replaced Shake Out, located at 110 Viking Drive, across from the BYU-Idaho Center.

Keri Rich, the general manager of The Burg and a senior studying business, said The Burg will sell burgers, fries and shakes, but that the menu will not be the same as Shake Out.

She said The Burg will have an original menu with original recipes.

“[The Burg] is 100 percent student-run,” Rich said. “We’ve got business majors, communication majors, finance majors— so it’s really cool to see all these students get together to make The Burg happen.”

Rich said that although many businesses in this location have closed down, they expect The Burg to stay.

“This place has been through so many different owners, and we really want to nail it,” Rich said. “We wanted to make people realize that this isn’t just another coming and going business. It’s not going anywhere.”

Rich said there is an upstairs portion of the restaurant that is still under construction, but is expected to be open to students Fall Semester 2015.

“It’s all on the down-low right now, but I will tell you – it will be exciting,” Rich said.

The Burg is now open to the community.
