The Cocoa Bean inside the NorthPoint Apartments is now open, according to The Cocoa Bean official website.
James Dixon, an employee at the new location and a sophomore studying business, said that although he was not present for the official opening of the café, his fellow coworkers said it was busy throughout the day.
The doors opened at 9 a.m., on Thursday, July 16, and regular store hours are from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Dixon said he looks forward to working in the new Cocoa Bean location.
“It’s clean, it’s awesome, and it’s going to get so much better too,” Dixon said. “Once the other restaurants open, it will be such a great atmosphere.”
The café handed out free mini cupcakes to the first 100 customers and will continue to give free mini cupcakes to the first 100 customers Friday and Saturday.
Alexa Carey, a sophomore studying exercise physiology, said she received a free cupcake for showing up around 9 a.m.
“I came here twice today,” Carey said. “It’s dangerous to have it so close. But I love that I can walk to The Cocoa Bean now.”
McKenzie Dalton, a freshman majoring in general studies, said she appreciates having more options around Hemming Village now that the café has a new location.
“It’s a lot nicer now that it doesn’t have to be just Kiwi Loco all the time,” Dalton said. “Now we can have ice cream instead of frozen yogurt from time to time.”
The new NorthPoint location is The Cocoa Bean’s second location in Rexburg, with the first café located on Center Street.
Kelsey Carter, an employee at the newly opened Cocoa Bean and a sophomore studying dance, said she is excited for what the new addition to NorthPoint will mean for the community.
“I think it’ll overall be a great atmosphere for friends and families,” Carter said.
