How to Conquer the Mid-Semester Slump

It’s something that seems to affect every college student at some point or another, especially if there is nice weather outside. One week students can be highly motivated and the following week they are burning out.

Instead of letting the mid-semester slump take control of you, try some of these tips to overcome it.

Practice Self-Care Regularly

When your mind is feeling exceptionally worn down, it can be easy to forget to take care of yourself. Don’t fall into this trap!

Here are a few ways you can practice self-care, according to

  • Take a nice hot (or cold) shower
  • Write in a journal
  • Eat a healthy snack
  • Get a good amount of sleep
  • Spend time with friends and family
  • Watch something that makes you laugh and smile

Whatever you choose to do, make sure it’s something that’s going to make you stay healthy and feel good. Find what works and stick
to it.

Change What Isn’t Working

Sometimes we get into a slump when something isn’t working out how we hoped, such as making good grades or having more time to do the things we enjoy.

If you know that one of your study methods aren’t producing results, try something else and make it a goal to show progress during the second half of the semester.
