Elder Richard G. Scott of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles was released from the hospital Tuesday afternoon, according to Deseret News. Elder Scott was admitted to the hospital on Thursday night due to gastrointestinal bleeding.
The bleeding was under control by Friday. The 86-year-old is now recuperating at home, according to the Daily Herald website.
Mackenzie Mayberry, a junior studying Elementary Education, said she was worried about the apostle’s well-being during his five-day stay in the hospital.
“I’m glad to hear that he’s doing better!” Mayberry said, “When I found out he was in the hospital, I was surprised because normally, you think of other apostles being older and sicklier than Elder Scott, but I’m glad to hear he’s out of the hospital so quickly.”
Elder L. Tom Perry was also recently released from the hospital, after being diagnosed with thyroid cancer, according to the Deseret News website.
Elder Perry, 92, was hospitalized on Wednesday because of breathing problems and began radiation Friday, according to the Deseret News website.
Elder Perry was released the same day, but continues to receive medical treatment for his recent diagnosis.
Elder Perry continues to conduct church business from his home and he is receiving visits from other General Authorities, according to KSL News.
