At this week’s devotional, Elder Randall K. Bennett, a General Authority Seventy, and his wife stood together at the I Center pulpit and addresses BYU-Idaho students. Elder Bennett focused on the importance of understanding our divine purpose. He urged students attending BYU-I to see the purpose behind trials and tribulations and how they may shape who we are but ultimately do not define us.

“I feel like everybody has trials,” said Lauren Wagner, a sophomore studying communication. “I like how Elder Bennett pointed out how our circumstances do not make us who we are, but it’s up to us to choose how to react and how to grow from it.”

Sister Bennett later expressed the importance of perseverance by sharing the story of her engagement.

“I really enjoyed the proposal story, and I feel like there is a lot to take away from it,” Wagner said. “We need to persevere in doing what is right, and things will work out.”

Sister Bennett said a few words on the benefits of being diligent but also patient in understanding our Heavenly Father’s plan.

In closing, Elder and Sister Bennett shared their testimonies on following promptings and diligently seeking out the path the Lord has planned for us.

“There were some things that I feel like I needed to hear,” Wagner said. “There are a couple things I could improve on, and I wouldn’t have received this revelation if I hadn’t followed the prompting to come.”
