Fremont County Search and Rescue holds annual Demolition Derby

The Fremont County Search and Rescue is holding a demolition derby fundraiser Saturday, Sept. 19 at the Fremont County fairgrounds in St. Anthony.

The event will be held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Admission prices are $7 for teens and adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for children under the age of 6, according to the event’s Facebook page.

Jake McRae, a senior studying nursing, said the Fremont County Search and Rescue is made up entirely of volunteers.

“We rely on this to fund all of our equipment and stuff,” McRae said. “So we are trying to get as much student involvement as possible.”

McRae said this will be his first time attending a demolition derby.

“The way I understand it works, is there are different classes of cars, trucks and small cars and they just kind of wreck each other,” he said.

The vehicles competing in the derby will be divided up into different classifications: full-size cars, half-ton pickups, open class and mini cars, according to the Facebook page.

A $2,000 prize will also be divided up between the winners of the different classes, according to the Facebook page.

“Let’s pack the stands and make this our best derby yet,” according to the Facebook page.
