Idaho Falls man accused of attempted strangulation

IDAHO FALLS – Idaho Falls Police arrested 55-year-old Eugene V. Vanausdal for alleged felony attempted strangulation following a domestic dispute Monday, Nov. 16.

Officers responded to the 300 block of Cottage Place, in Idaho Falls, for a report of a physical domestic around 9:15 p.m. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a 55-year-old woman who stated she and Vanausdal got into an argument, according to police reports.

The argument turned physical when Vanausdal allegedly grabbed the woman by the throat and pushed her down. He then allegedly squeezed and put his body weight on her neck.

Officers arrested Vanausdal at the residence and booked him in the Bonneville County Jail with a bond of $25,000. Arraignment for Vanausdal will be at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 17.
