Idaho Falls man allegedly steals two cell phones from I.F. Walmart

IDAHO FALLS– Idaho Falls Police arrested Louis A. Galaviz, 29, for burglary and theft of two cell phones from an Idaho Falls Walmart early Saturday morning, Sept. 12.

Officers responded to Walmart, located at 500 S. Utah Ave., around 7:41 a.m. for a report of a theft.

Idaho Falls Police spokeswoman Joelyn Hansen said store employees observed Galaviz taking the phones, valued at $200, into a bathroom. After leaving the bathroom, he allegedly left the phone packaging behind.

The employees called Idaho Falls Police who responded to the call just as Galaviz was leaving the store, said Hansen. He allegedly struggled to resist, but police ultimately arrested him.

The 29-year-old was also booked into the Bonneville County Jail on a Bonneville County Warrant and a Bingham County Warrant.

Galaviz is being held at the Bonneville County Jail on a bond of $20,257.50.

His arraignment is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 14 at 1:30 pm.
