LDS missionaries safe after Taiwan earthquake

REXBURG — All LDS missionaries serving in Taiwan are safe after a 6.4-magnitude earthquake hit the country yesterday.

President Kurt Blickenstaff, president of the Taiwan Taichung mission, sent an email to all missionaries’ parents saying the missionaries were safe and there was no significant damage to missionary apartments, according to Deseret News.

The earthquake’s epicenter was near Tainan City in southwestern Taiwan, the city worst hit, according to The Associated Press.

At least 14 people have been killed, and over 100 people are still missing, according to the AP.
