The Main Street Business Owners Association in Rexburg will meet Saturday, June 6 to clean up Main Street and improve the look, feel and business of downtown.
The cleanup is planned for 7 a.m. to noon, said Daniel Moldenhauer, member of the Main Street Business Owners Association and owner of Dan’s ACE Hardware.
Moldenhauer said anyone from the community is invited to come.
“It’s the community’s downtown,” Moldenhauer said. “They’re welcome to help.”
Moldenhauer said those who come are asked to bring garden tools such as wheelbarrows, shovels, pruners, rakes, saws and more.
Moldenhauer said the cleanup would consist of removing the current, dying, obtruding trees, planting Honey Locust trees in their place, cleaning flowerbeds and planting flowers.
Moldenhauer said the Main Street Business Owners Association hopes to complete the whole stretch from Second East by Walgreens to First West by Broulim’s on Saturday, but helpers are not required to stay for the whole event. He said they could come and go during the day as they choose.
“As we work together to make downtown more pedestrian friendly and beautiful, more people will shop, dine, work and play downtown,” according to the Main Street Business Owners Association flier.
Moldenhauer said the Main Street Business Owners Association was established about one month ago, and it is looking for businesses in downtown Rexburg to join.
