Story by Jessica Potter.

This weekend, the BYU-Idaho campus will be holding the Power to Become Conference, a two-day event featuring professional guest speakers like Kyle Nel, Executive Director of Lowe’s Innovation Labs.

“P2B is not a traditional professional development conference — it’s an experience,” according the P2B Web page.

Nel said he plans to share the importance of a personal narrative. He said narratives have the power to create meaningful and seemingly impossible changes.

“If you do not know and follow your story, you will get stuck in someone else’s,” Nel said.

Nel said he is very excited to attend and participate at P2B, but he is more excited to see the campus and connect with old friends.

He said all the speakers in attendance are coming from a lot of different industries and backgrounds.

Nel said he looks forward to hearing from other professionals that share his experiences.

“I am looking forward to seeing how their experiences at BYU-I influenced them and a bit about how they became who they are today,” he said.

Nel, a BYU-I alumnus himself, said he is also excited to attend the Rexburg Idaho Temple, which was still under construction when Nel graduated.

“Mostly, I am looking forward to meeting current students, staff, faculty and friends of BYU-I,” Nel said.
