Hello BYU-Idaho! Have you ever wanted to get in shape? Want to shed that freshman 15? Well, I know just the thing to help! This school has a lot of fitness classes here on campus, and there are many popular ones. Here are the five most popular classes offered to students free of charge.
Pump it. This is a strength and toning class using a combination of free weights, body weight and cardio. Loud music is played in the background designed to pump you up (hence the title of the class). This class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7-7:50 p.m. in John W. Hart Building 234.
HIIT. This acronym stands for High Intensity Interval Training. It can be pretty tiresome, especially on tired muscles, but the payoff is worth it. This class meets at 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. in Hart 234.
Abs that rock. This class meets only once a week from 7-7:50 p.m. on Wednesdays in Hart 234. This class brings an energized workout including moves focusing on core strength.
Zumba. The full title is Zumba and Latin Jam. This class meets four nights a week at varying times from Monday through Thursday in the Hart main gym and is a dynamic and exciting class filled with hip hop and Latin dance moves.
Yoga. This class meets five days a week from Monday to Thursday and Saturday morning in Hart 141. The goals of this class are to increase balance, flexibility and mental relaxation to enhance the mind-body connection.
All of these fitness classes are looking for more participants, and will help motivate you to perform the workout to the best of your ability. For more information regarding class schedules and locations, check out the fitness class schedule by typing in the words “fitness center” in the search bar at byui.edu.
