Tuesday, Feb. 2, Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow, and according to tradition, an early spring can be expected.
“Interpreting Phil’s behavior, the Groundhog Club emcee proclaimed, ‘There is no shadow to be cast! An early spring is my forecast,’” according to NPR.
However, Phil was not the only groundhog to predict an early spring, according to NPR.
According to NPR, there is Staten Island Chuck in New York and General Beau Lee in Georgia; both of whom agree with Phil.
“The inner circle goes to great ends to keep me abreast of latest trends,” according to groundhog.org. “Down in my burrow I never get bored riding on my hover board. And I sure have fun flying my drone, but weather forecasting is my comfort zone. Is this current warm weather more than a trend? Per chance this winter has come to an end? There is no shadow to be cast. An early Spring is my forecast.”
