Start your summer with a bang at Summer Bash on Friday, June 17, at Centre Square, from 8-11 p.m.

“The Summer Bash dance is a summer dance party being put on by Social Activities and the Housing Department,” said Emily Chantry, a manager for BYU-Idaho Social Activities and a sophomore studying business management.

Chantry said the students should expect great music, fun lights, a summer-themed photo booth, summer drinks, snow cones, popcorn and more.

“It’s going to be held at Centre Square, the new dorms for BYU-Idaho,” said Cooper Rutan, a manager for BYU-Idaho Social Activities and a freshman studying computer science.

Rutan said it is an outdoor dance, which will be new and different since most social activities are held indoors.

“This dance will start up the summer and is preparatory to the summer solstice,” Rutan said. “We will have volleyball, dancing and lots of fun things.”

Chantry said students should make it a priority to come to Summer Bash because it is a terrific way to start the summer.

“Students should expect dancing, volleyball and concessions,” Chantry said.

Chantry said the mood will be fun and relaxed — everything an outdoor summer dance party should be.

“We expect at least 500 people and hope to be surprised with how many more will attend,” Chantry said.

Chantry said because it is happening at Centre Square, they expect a lot of residents from there to attend.

“The Summer Bash costs a total of $0,” Rutan said. “It’s a free event.”

Chantry said they have advertised for Summer Bash by handing out flyers, extending personal invitations, marketing through the Social Activities social media sites and through emails to students at several apartment complexes to get the word out for this event.

You can go celebrate the joys of summer at Summer Bash, where you can expect a variety of music of top-hits, hip-hop, EDM and all genres of dance music, according to the BYU-I Social Activities website.
