Rexburg police speak to elementary school students about Halloween Safety

Rexburg Police Lieutenant Colin Erickson met with students at Lincoln Elementary School to talk about Halloween Safety Tips on Friday, Oct. 30 from 9-11 a.m.

A Student Advisory Board of local high school students accompanied Lieutenant Erickson and also provided safety tips ranging from looking both ways before crossing the street and choosing costumes that are safe.

“You are four times more likely to get hit [on Halloween] than any other day out of the year,” said Lieutenant Erickson.

The AAA website says that Nationally, Halloween is one of top three days of the year that fatalities for those on foot, according to the AAA website. Motorists should slow down in residential neighborhoods and drive at least 5 mph under the posted speed limit, according to the website..
