The National Weather Service has issued flood alerts, winter weather advisories and winter storm warnings to the East Idaho region after heavy snowfall began falling Saturday afternoon.

The forecast predicts Rexburg and surrounding areas could receive a foot of snow. The areas that will be affected the greatest could receive up to 30 inches of snow by Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Idaho State Journal, the storm may continue to affect the region until at least Tuesday but could linger for much longer, according to the Weather Service.

According to the Weather Service, driving in East Idaho will be “very hazardous or impossible,” according to the Idaho State Journal. “The storm might be the most powerful of the season thus far to hit East Idaho.”
