Elder Russell M. Nelson was ordained president of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, July 15.

President Nelson succeeds President Boyd K. Packer, who passed away July 3.

The Quorum of the Twelve Apostles is the second-highest president unit in the Church, under the First Presidency, according to Mormon Newsroom.

It is the Church’s practice to call the senior-most member of the Quorum by date of assignment as the Quorum president.
