Saturday morning, May 12, the police arrested a man for vandalizing the St. George Temple in Utah.
According to Deseret News, the man is said to have damaged artwork, furniture and other items.
Eric Hawkins spokesman for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints said that the damages led to temporary closure of the building while damages are assessed.
The man reportedly broke a window and made his way to the fifth floor of the building where more damages were done.
Deseret News reported that some temple workers found him and contained him until police arrived and detained him.
The temple will be closed while all damages are addressed by the workers.
Temple operations may resume by the end of the day.
