Student death: remembering Cali Trunnell

Cali May Trunnell, a senior studying elementary education, passed away Friday, July 1, in a car accident.

“She was on her way to Colorado to spend a fun surprise weekend of horseback riding with her little sister Olivia,” according to the gofundme webpage made for Trunnell.

Ailee Olsen, a junior studying child development, said she had a humanities class with Trunnell in 2014.

“She was so kind and so caring,” Olsen said. “After two years, she still remembered my name and always came up to say hi to me.”

Investigators said a man driving a Ford F-150 swerved to avoid a tire and struck Trunnell’s vehicle in the driver’s side door, according to KSL.

Funeral services will be held on July 9.
