It’s the beginning of the semester here at BYU-Idaho, and let’s face it – it’s a little hard to find time to get into the gym right now.  That is exactly why the 9-Week Challenge was created.

“I just thought it would be a good opportunity to become active and fit,” said Jennifer Scott, a junior studying Child Development.

Jennifer Scott joined the 9-Week Challenge to get the most out of her semester at BYU-Idaho, but what exactly is the 9-Week Challenge?

The 9-Week Challenge has 4 key phases.

1. Participate in 1 Wellness Activities Evening Fitness Class Per Week.

2. Exercise 3 hours a week for 9 weeks.

3. Attend one Wellness Workshop.

4. Record your progress online.

“So my roommate was talking about the 9-Week Challenge and I thought it sounded like a good idea,” said Scott.  “So I just went online and I started doing it.”

Scott said she loves working out and emphasizes the day-to-day importance of doing so.

“I like working out because I think it’s a huge stress reliever for me,” said Scott. “Working out is just the time I can do whatever I want.”

Scott encourages students to follow suit and join the challenge.

“Work out everyday,” Scott said.  “You don’t have to do something serious, and it can be something you do together with your friends.  Instead of going out to eat, go work out.”
