Feeling lonely at a university known for its high marriage population? Afraid your Valentine’s Day will be only tears and cartons of ice cream? Here are fun ways to spend this Valentine’s Day even if you’re single.

Get involved! Engage in some Valentine’s Day events happening on campus this week:

1. Valentine’s Day Ball: Feb. 13, 8-11 p.m. ($5 Admission)

Come enjoy a night of dancing, and you don’t even need a date! Formal dress attire. Find more information here.

2. Valentines 5k: Feb. 11, 6 p.m. (Free)

Get active and enjoy a night of running at the BYU-Idaho Center Track. Bring a date to show off your skills! Find more information here.

3. Valentines Festival: Feb. 11, 7 p.m.

Spend your night doing various activities regardless of relationship status and meeting friends! Find out more here.

If you’re not feeling the school events, take a day off to spend it with someone you love whether it is a roommate or a group of friends.

“It’s a great way to have fun on a day that could be labeled ‘National Single Awareness Day,’ when in reality, it’s just another day of the week,” said Maddie Bleak, a freshman studying elementary education.

Rather than indulging in one too many chick flicks, other students recommend having a little fun while it lasts. Instead of worrying about impressing that girl or boy, take the day for yourself.

Karsten Lester, a freshman studying business, said he likes to pull harmless pranks on his friends. His favorite one is to drive by couple’s and say, “Do you love her?” and then drive away.

Who says you can’t have fun single on Valentine’s Day?

If you are still in a frenzy after reading this, you still have a few days left to find a valentine. Good luck!
