WATCH: How do BYU-I students access accurate news?

It can be hard to access the latest and most accurate political news in a world where “fake news” is taking over. From 2016 to 2017 the amount of republican adults who thought information from national news organizations was trustworthy dropped from 15 percent to 11 percent, while with democrat adults it rose from 27 percent to 34 percent, according to a May 10, 2017 Pew Research study.

In such an uncertain time, BYU-Idaho students share how they stay up to date politically and where they get the most accurate information in such times.

The best things we can do to understand current events are: 1) repent, 2) study the standard works, 3) pray, and 4) faithfully sacrifice yourself in love and service. In other words, emulate the good people the scriptures tell us about. Do that, and you’ll be more able to tell what is true or false. You’ll find that truth and lies are intermixed almost everywhere. The only qualitative differences in news sources you’ll find in this world are higher concentrations of lies in some places, and higher concentrations of truth in other places. DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY ACCEPT EVERYTHING coming from Christians; we are a lost and fallen world, and we are immersed in a cloud of darkness–everyone fails every now and then. Case in point, most American Christians are telling us to soften our hearts toward Islam. Do that, and your posterity will be butt-flap-wearing slaves in no time, and Christianity will become the outlawed religion of slaves. A personal relationship with the God of The Bible is your only hope to have your thumb on the pulse of truth.

So, basically, what you’re saying is don’t act like you. I’d love to see you “faithfully sacrifice yourself in love and service” to a Muslim. I think it’s more likely hell will freeze over before you demonstrate any kind of Christlike attributes towards your fellow man.

How dare you lecture anyone on how to find truth when you are so blinded by hate that you wouldn’t recognize it if it slapped you in the face.

This is a perfect example of how these delicate little snowflake SJW’s loose their minds when you take a public stand against evil. Notice, I never expressed any hostility towards my brothers, the Muslims, only against their Satanic Verses. Assuming Sanleaker is a Christian, she comes unhinged when Islam is criticized. Absolutely never trust the words of anyone proclaiming anything other than Jesus Christ; he is the only one at the gate, not Mohamed. These things run in packages. She probably also looses her mind when the “Only Blacks Matter” movement is criticized, or Occupy Wall Street, or Communism, just like she did when Trump was elected.
