In previous years the fair opened on Thursday. “2015 marked the addition of Wednesday to the fair which turned out to be very successful,” according to madisonfairgrounds.com.

Local vendors set up booths at the fair selling homemade crafts, food and services.

Residents of Madison County entered in different categories including livestock, art and horticulture. Judges scored and awarded photography and fine art, home art and horticulture entries prior to opening on Wednesday. Judges will score livestock and other categories throughout the week.

In addition to entry displays, food and rides, the fair will host several events including a martial arts tournament, rodeo and Charley Jenkins Concert, according to madisonfairgrounds.com.

The fair will end Saturday, August 20.
