Yellowstone reaches 4 million visits (image needed)

Story by Lauren Conte, @laurenconte8

Yellowstone reached over 4 million visits in 2015, according to the National Park Service website.

The National Park service defines visits as entering and exiting the park, and this number represents a larger amount than the amount of visitors, according to the website.

Yellowstone visits, which increased 16.6 percent from 2014 to 2015, has affected the visitor experience, according to the website.

“The increase in visitation to Yellowstone this year brought an increase in demands on park staff, facilities and resources,” according to the website.

Yellowstone expects an increase in popularity and visits in the 2016 summer season, according to the website.

Kimberly Fisher, a freshman studying art, said students like to visit Yellowstone in the warmer months.

“Around Rexburg there are always promotional ads for Yellowstone,” Fisher said.

Fisher also said that the number of tourists going to Yellowstone might effect how likely she is to visit.

“If I knew more people were going to Yellowstone and I heard more good things about it, then I would probably make it more a priority to go,” Fisher said.
