DJ Productions presents “When I Grow Up,” a thematic dance where individuals can dress up in the attire attributed to their dream job as a kid.
“We wanted to do one where people could get a little more creative, dress up and have fun,” said a DJ Production manager, Spencer Seegmiller, a freshman majoring in general studies.
The dance will be held in the John W. Hart Building Auditorium on Saturday, Feb. 27, from 8- 11 p.m., according to the BYU-Idaho Events Calendar.
Seegmiller said the cost to get in is $2 with the I-Card and $3 without.
“President Gilbert wanted to have more wholesome on campus activities,” said Luke Gillenwater, one of DJ Production’s managers and a junior studying business management. “We are trying to have a clean party experience on campus.”
Gillenwater said there will be photographers and a light show put on by AV Productions.
“It’s a real experience,” Gillenwater said. “The music is just a small part of it.”
Gillenwater said DJ Productions will be playing a mixture of familiar music to stimulate the crowd’s enthusiasm.
Gillenwater said they are going to play Electronic Dance Music EDM, top 40 and more hip hop.
Seegmiller said that he wants to create a clean atmosphere where people feel comfortable dancing.
“We are trying to make sure that everyone who comes is going to have an enjoyable time,” Seegmiller said.
Gillenwater said DJ Productions began the semester with success at the Stoplight Scramble event where partiers wore green for single, yellow for complicated and red for taken.
“We had a little over 900 people at our last dance,” Gillenwater said.
Gillenwater said that with the triumph in numbers at the first dance, DJ Productions hopes to continue the momentum.
