An event to inspire brides

Last Saturday, The Barn on First invited all community members of Eastern Idaho to attend a Bridal showcase. The event helped future brides their special day and potential businesses they could consider.

The Barn on First hosted an event with 30 vendors offering a variety of products and services, ranging from pastries, invitations, decorations, photography and wedding attire.

The event involved all customers by encouraging a raffle game of bingo. Winners were announced at the end of the event and were accompanied home with prizes from the various vendors present.

Janet Long, owner of home business A Cottage Co., set up a display of wedding invitations. Her daughter, Stephanie Thompson, shared advice to customers that passed by regarding details and invitations.

"Try to enjoy it," Thompson said. "Put as much personality into the details. It's your day."

The venue was packed full of individuals searching for inspiration. Despite the busy environment, business owners provided business cards, pricing and samples and took the time to speak to each customer about the day they envisioned and how it could be accomplished.

One booth displayed its business product of pressed bouquets, advertising a unique way for brides to cherish a part of their special day. Madison Loomis, partial owner of  Wallflower Pressing Co., expressed her passion for helping capture moments.

"My friend and I always wanted to start a business and we both love flowers,”Loomis said. “We both wanted to provide something that brides could keep forever. We knew of the event because The Barn on First reached out to us through Instagram."

Each vendor shared advice and guidance with those who passed by. It allowed a chance for brides and grooms to find a balance in their planning and an idea of what truly matters. One business owner, Kenzie Olsen from Kenzie Olsen Designs, shared her personal take on a busy wedding day.

"Don't take it too seriously because one day you will look back and not remember the little things," Olsen said. "Just focus on you and your soon-to-be spouse."
