On Thursday, June 1, all BYU-Idaho faculty members have the opportunity to attend the annual faculty banquet from 5:45-7:30 p.m. in the Hyrum Manwaring Center Ballroom. This event is held each year to recognize current faculty members of the university as well as current academic year retirees and acknowledge each for all they do for the school.

This year’s banquet is expected to have over 400 faculty members in attendance. Each faculty member can bring one guest to the event and has been asked to RSVP to the event through the learning and teaching website.

Shirley Hawkes, office assistant of the faculty development department, has been in close connections with organizing the faculty banquet from behind the scenes.

“This event is an opportunity to express appreciation to our faculty and it is a privilege to serve and work alongside with each of them,” Shirley said.

The program for the event will include a banquet serving at 5:45 p.m. followed by the start of a program at 6:30 p.m. Faculty members from the Music Department will present a musical number which will then lead to the speakers for the event.

Speakers for the event will include Academic Affairs Vice President Sidney Palmer, Academic Vice President Jon Linford and President Henry J. Eyring.

The annual faculty banquet has been a running tradition since 2011, beginning with former school President Kim B. Clark.
