Elder Gérald Caussé of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will hold a devotional at the I-Center this Sunday, June 14 from 5 to 6 p.m. Doors open at 4 p.m.

University Resources Vice President Brett Cook invited students to be seated by 4:50 p.m. to reverently prepare for Elder Causse’s remarks.

According to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints website, Elder Caussé was called to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on November 6, 2025. This makes him the second most recently called apostle to the Twelve, behind Clark G. Gilbert.

Elder Caussé was born in Bordeaux, France, on May 20, 1963. When he was initially called as a general authority, he was working as the managing director of a food distribution company. He is a pianist, and has participated in the recordings of several albums.

Elder Caussé has served in many callings in the church, including Presiding Bishop of the Church prior to his call as an apostle.

In November of 2023, Elder Caussé gave his first BYUI devotional while serving as Presiding Bishop. His message focused on seeing potential as he shared piano pieces he had come to learn after a loving teacher built his confidence and capabilities.

Last semester, BYUI students had the opportunity to hear from Elder Neil L. Andersen. Eddie Aguiar, a freshman studying animal sciences, attended and is excited to hear from another apostle.

“I think it’s really great being able to feel the spirit that a member of the Quorum of the Twelve brings, and the strength that they share to us specifically, and how their message is so directed to what we need.”

Aguiar's wife, Isabella Aguiar, has never been to a live devotional with an apostle and shared a similar sentiment.

“I’m very excited!” Isabella Aguiar said. “I think that it’s awesome that the school hosts things like this for the students, and it’s a really great opportunity to draw closer to the Lord.”
