The Idaho Falls Zoo is bringing back its popular Bat Night event for summer 2025, offering guests a rare opportunity to explore the zoo after dark.
The bat nights are scheduled for June 26, July 24 and August 21 from 8:30-11 p.m. This family-friendly program introduces visitors to Idaho's bats and their important role in local ecosystems.

Hosted in partnership with bat experts from BYU-Idaho and Idaho National Laboratory, the evening begins with a short presentation in the William J. Maeck Education Center. Attendees will then break into small groups to explore the zoo and observe native bats in action. Interactive displays and hands-on activities will also be available for all ages.
“Bats are one of the most misunderstood animals, but they are essential to our environment,” said Bethanie West, curator of education at the Idaho Falls Zoo. “This event gives people a chance to see bats up close, learn about their role in nature and understand why protecting them matters.”
Admission is $6.00 per person for ages three and older; children two and under attend free. Tickets must be purchased in advance; no sales will be available at the gate.
“It’s a fun, educational night that families won’t forget,” West said.
