BYU-Idaho held a Battle of the Dances where students could show off their dancing skills for all to see. During the show, audience members were able to win tickets for the I-Cover Event by answering a question correctly about the film, “Footloose”. A wide range of dances was shown throughout the night, ranging from Hip-Hop to Ballroom styled dancing.
Manager of the event, Loryn Paul, told us about the overall turnout for the show, and what they were expecting.
“So this event always ends selling out. The tickets end selling out. So we were expecting a lot of people to come to the show. Before we sold 300 tickets and we didn’t know how much, or how many people would come after that, but it turned out good.”
One performer, Daniel Ockey, from the dance gro, IVMatics, whose dance was inspired by a day at the horse races in the 60’s, had this to say.
“So my dance crew is the IVMatics, it’s not my dance crew, but I’m apart of it and we’ve been practicing since the first week of the semester. I’m really excited to perform; we’ve been working hard. You get a little bit of those butterflies in your stomach, but it’s worth it.”
It was an exciting night with many audience members being there to sport their friends, or just enjoy a night filled with dancing. If you want to know more about this event you check out our website at B – Y – U – I – DOT – ORG.
