Elder Jorge M. Alvarado spoke at BYU-Idaho at a devotional on Tuesday.
He has dedicated much of his life to the Lord. He served a full-time mission in Tampa, Florida, and served in the Caribbean headquarters for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

In 1992 he married his wife Cari Lu. They have three children together and during this devotional, he talked about how he has seen the importance of temples in their family.
On their wedding day, Elder Alvarado and Cari Lu promised each other they would attend the temple at least once a year. They raised their children in Puerto Rico. There wasn’t a temple in Puerto Rico during their time there, but they had the opportunity to travel and visit many different temples.
He challenged students to “make your apartments or homes like the temple.”
Many students left devotional feeling empowered as Elder Alvarado said they are “the leaders of the world.”
“Following Jesus Christ is not a casual commitment,” said Elder Alvarado.
He quoted Doctrine and Covenants 88:63 which reads, “Draw near unto me and I will draw near unto you; seek me diligently and ye shall find me; ask, and ye shall receive; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.”
“It’s game time,” Elder Alvarado said. “The call has been given to you. It is time to become what he wants you to become.”
