An animation showcase featuring the work of BYU-Idaho senior Kellie Fowkes, an aspiring animator, took place on the first floor of the Jacob Spori Building Thursday, Dec. 4.
Fowkes set up stations with various televisions showcasing each animation via video presentations, with certain presentations showcasing a particular element of the animation process.
Fowkes presented her animation showcase as part of her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

"It's basically a slightly elevated degree from the typical BA Bachelor of Arts," Fowkes said. "They have since discontinued that degree, and I'm one of the last people. And once you become a senior you get to have your own show."
Fowkes has spent the past three years animating, a passion she began simply because she enjoyed it and wanted to make people happy.
Fowkes' favorite piece was "Cody," the animation featured front and center on the event flyer.
Fowkes said her favorite animation to work on was the one titled "Cody."
"Because just his big nose," Fowkes explained, "I gave him a big nose cause I wanted to move in 3D space, and it was so much fun."
Other attendees for the event were fascinated by the animated shorts.
Parker Dupree, a BYUI student, shared that "Cody" was his favorite animation.
"It feels really fluid and smooth, and you really get to know the character in it," Dupree said.
Logan Steed, another BYUI student, also noted "Cody" as his favorite animation.

"I really like this one...because I was actually in her class when she was animating it," Steed said. "So I was able to see the full process, and it was just really cool to kind of see the step-by-step, especially with animation, you don't really realize how much goes into it."
The TVs displaying each animation video were set up until the end of the semester in the Jacob Spori building.
