The campus greenspace, which began construction in 202. The space is visioned to be a place where students can study and wards and stakes can gather for events and activities.
"You gather [at the temple grounds] because there's no place else that's really close," said Andy Johnson, the Director of Architecture and Construction Management Services. "[It will be] kind of an overflow to the temple grounds."
The greenspace, which was just an agricultural field filled with weeds, will include a pavilion and a fountain.
"It's intended that this park [will be] more of...a calm [place] to sit and ponder," Johnson said. "They've asked us to...build it up so that it becomes usable for students."
The project is set to finish in September of 2027.

Along with the addition of the campus greenspace, Johnson also gave updates about the Gordon B. Hinckley Building and the David O. McKay Library.
"We're going in [the Hinckley] and [putting in] new paint, new carpet, new light fixtures," Johnson said. "It's just time to refresh that building a little bit."
Johnson said that the Hinckley Building, as well as the McKay Library, will reopen this Fall.
The Joseph Fielding Smith Building has also been a topic of discussion for remodeling, but no plans have been approved.
"We currently are developing a strategy, if we needed to empty the [building]," Johnson said. "So, this deal with the Smith is more like in a planning stage."
Johnson said that although changes are being discussed, nothing has been approved yet. Construction on the Smith would still be a few years away.
