Saturday night BYU-Idaho couples participated in a race around campus called “The Incredible Date!” The race started at the Crossroads where the couples received their first clue.
“It’s under one of the tables in this room!”
The couples began searching for the clue, which led them on a series of stations all over campus. Some of the stations included making three baskets at the I-center, popping balloons with anything but your hands and feet at the MC, and acting out a scene from William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliette at the Snow building.
“We want them to have fun,” stated Morgan Maher an event manager for the Incredible Date. “We want them to come back in future semesters, and we want it to be something that is easy to come to and fun to leave and you want to leave with a smile.”
As the night went on, the men made balloon flowers for their date while the women learned how to defend themselves against potential attackers.
“It was really fun,” said participant Rachel Rickett. “We ran the whole way and learned some self-defense and made popcorn and it was great,”
“I think they did an incredibly good job at mixing the types of events we had to do, making them interactive, you still had to think about them.” Taylor Osborne said.
And as for the date?
“I think it was a really fun date,” said Osborne
“Yeah it was a really fun date,” agreed Rickett.
The night concluded with an awards ceremony with various prizes given out to the winners. If you missed out on this event don’t worry, they will be holding it again next semester. Reporting from BYU-Idaho, I’m Dallin Cervo, Scroll TV News
