Wine enthusiasts are big fans of things called wine pairings. A wine pairing consists of selecting a wine that enhances the flavor of a dish, resulting in a more enjoyable dining experience. But, since we're broke college students and we follow the Word of Wisdom, I've decided to bring you the next best thing: energy drink pairings.
Now, I'm no expert on energy drinks. That's why I decided to enlist the help of people who are more knowledgeable than I am — my roommate, Ryan, and our friend, Landen. Together, we went to the local Broulim's and selected five of the best energy drinks and five snacks to go along with them. We taste-tested them, rated them based on how well they complimented each other and put them in order of which combos were better. Here's what we came up with.

No. 5 – Blueberry BelVita Breakfast Biscuits and Original Red Bull
Ratings:
Me: 6/10
Ryan: 6/10
Landen: 7/10
Overall: 6.33/10
This combination is the perfect "I overslept and I'm running late to my 7:45 a.m. class" combination. You get a good source of Vitamin B and Iron, while also getting that kick you need to keep you awake. It was our least favorite of the combinations but still one to keep you coming back for more.
No. 4 – Black Cherry Mountain Dew Kickstart and Original Cheez-Its
Ratings:
Me: 7/10
Ryan: 6.5/10
Landen: 5.8/10
Overall: 6.43/10
After much discussion and a couple of times through to make sure our taste buds had the best possible chance to work, we came to the conclusion that this is a perfect combo to have when you're having a movie night, game night or simply studying for your finals. Narrowly missing last place, this is the perfect combination of sweet and salty to get you through those tough nights that include hours of studying for a final you have no chance of passing.

#3 – Whipped Strawberry Rockstar and Little Debbie Mini Glazed Doughnuts
Ratings:
Me: 8/10
Ryan: 8/10
Landen: 7/10
Overall: 7.6/10
Only have 10 minutes in between classes, need a quick pick-me-up and it's still early enough for breakfast? Look no further than this perfect combination of strawberry goodness and glazed sweetness. It tastes good and it gets the job done. Plus, you get a nice boost of energy to get you through your religion class, not that you need the boost. I mean, who doesn't like their religion class?!
#2 – Monster Pipeline Punch and Simply White Cheddar Cheeto Puffs
Ratings
Me: 7.5/10
Ryan: 8/10
Landen: 9/10
Overall: 8.16/10
This combination is like the type of combo you'd have when you're getting some sun at the beach, at the pool or at Porter Park. The tropical flavor of passionfruit and pineapple mixed with the white cheddar goodness of a Cheeto is like heaven in your mouth. It's so good, it'll make you forget that you ever had finals to study for. However, a word of advice: don't eat the white cheddar Cheeto puffs if you don't want another addiction to take over your life.

#1 – Reign Reignbow Sherbet and Sour Gummy Worms
Ratings
Me: 9/10
Ryan: 10/10
Landen: 9.5/10
Overall: 9.5/10
This list, and experience, could not have ended up on a better pairing. I don't think I've ever tasted a better combination. It gives you a "mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell" kind of vibes. The sherbet tang of the Reign, mixed with the chaotic sour punch of the sour gummy worms gives you the perfect end-of-studying celebration. If this combo was in March Madness, it'd be the 16th seed winning the whole tournament. Truly a Cinderella combination.

As someone who doesn't drink a lot of energy drinks, I thoroughly enjoyed trying each flavor and seeing what the hype was all about. Who knows what other energy drink pairings exist on this beautiful planet that we've been given?
