Elder Bruce C. Hafen, the former Ricks College president from 1978 to1985, spoke at the devotional this Tuesday with his wife, Sister
"Sacrifices bring forth the blessings of heaven," said Elder Hafen.
During Elder Hefan's address, he shares the sacrifice that President Jeffery R. Holland, former president of the quorum of twelve apostles, made in 1960 when he decided to go on his mission, leaving his girlfriend behind, whom he loved.
"It was an act of wrenching but trusting sacrifice to the Lord," said Elder Bruce C. Hafen.
Elder Hafen explains that by choosing to go and serve a mission, President Holland gained a deeper understanding of the gospel.

"He had no idea how the mission would profoundly change his whole life. But in pure trust, he finally bowed down before the Lord and said, 'yes I'll go,'" said Elder Hafen.
Brynlee Lesler, a family studies major at BYUI, reflects on the sacrifice she's made in her life that has led to blessings.
"My mission was a huge sacrifice for me," said Lesler. "I learned so much I can't imagine where I would be without it."
Braden Sanford, a BYUI student studying computer science, shared that his greatest sacrifice was also his mission to Portland, Oregon.
"I learned that the Lord will provide an abundance," said Sanford. "When I got there, it was the best thing ever for me."
