On July 10, BYUI Live announced that the vocal trio, Gentri, would be performing at BYUI’s annual Christmas concert. Emma Nissen, an internationally renowned Jazz vocalist, will also be performing as a guest star. The concert is scheduled for December 9 and all ages are welcome. 

Tanner Christensen, head of BYUI Live’s programming and executive producer of the Christmas show, shared what he hopes students will get out of this event. 

“The Christmas show falls right before the final weeks of the semester which can be extremely chaotic and stressful for students.” Christensen said, “I hope they all come to the concert on December 5th and for a few hours are reminded that their Savior loves and needs them.”

Christensen also indicated that this show will be bigger than any BYUI Christmas concert before it. The concert will feature an orchestra and a 200 person choir. 

According to their website, Gentri have released 10 studio albums in the last 11 years. In 2016, they won an Emmy  with their Christmas TV special “Christmas Under the Stars.” 

Gentri has shared the stage with Broadway stars Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth. They have also performed with the bands Journey and One Republic. 

According to her website, Emma Nissen topped the iTunes Christian Music Chart with her album Love Like You. She’s known for her vocal Scatting on the song “Breathe.”
