While BYUI might not have a sports program, students have a full slate of sports and fitness opportunities to stay active, build new friendships and compete.

Sports are divided into two categories: competitive and recreational.

Competitive sports

For students looking for a more rigorous athletic schedule, BYUI offers competitive, student-led teams. Players for these teams will go through a tryout process and be drafted by the student leaders. Each competitive team will also receive guidance from a campus sports advisor.

Sports offered include:

— Football

— Rugby

— Basketball

— Soccer

— Cross country

— Volleyball

— Swimming

— Water polo

"Players commit 6-10 hours each week for practices and competitions," according to the Sports and Fitness BYUI page.

Tryouts for competitive teams are currently being held. For more information and a detailed schedule of tryout times and other relevant information, visit the Sports and Fitness page and IMLeagues.

Recreational Sports

If competitive sports aren't your thing, and you're just hoping to have some fun and meet new friends the Recreational Sports options are the way to go.

Students wanting to participate are typically asked to commit 1-2 hours per week. According to Sports and Fitness, everyone can come "learn a new sport or play your favorite. All are encouraged to participate and have fun."

Information about events and recreational leagues can be found on the Sports and Fitness page and IMLeagues.

Fitness Classes & Events

For those wanting to stay active, but aren't really sports people, BYU-Idaho also offers a variety of fitness classes and events which include: aerobics, zumba, pilates, cross-training, triathlons, color runs, yoga and more.

Most fitness classes are free for students.

A calendar of fitness classes can be found at IMLeagues.
