Scroll is BYU-Idaho’s oldest student-led organization, and we want you to be a part of it!
The Scroll practicum is a 1-credit lab class where you have the opportunity to report on real news stories and become a published author. With no prerequisites, any student can enroll in Scroll.
What does joining Scroll actually look like?
When you join Scroll, you’re assigned to a desk. Your desk is a group of students assigned to cover specific topics throughout the semester.

What do I do each week?
During class times, you’ll attend trainings and editorial meetings, and get to work covering your assigned stories.
You’ll work with a dedicated desk editor who assigns you stories, gives you feedback, and oversees everyone in your beat.
Over the semester you’ll complete 10 stories in your department.
