Kyle Adams’ entrepreneurial journey

Kyle Adams is a communication major with a minor in business. He has a big entrepreneurial spirit and a drive to help others.

His most impactful event in his life was when he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Provo, Utah. There, he was able to learn about the balance between love and law, and how to be effective and kind simultaneously.

“What I think personally is that you serve a mission for yourself as well,” said Adams. “There is a growth you get from your mission that is not anything that you can get anywhere else.”

Every day, Adams reflects on his commitment to living the gospel. He wakes up at 5 a.m. to exercise, study the scriptures and prepare for the day.

Adams is an aspiring entrepreneur. Back in October 2024, he participated in Boise’s Entrepreneur Week with an idea for a pill reminder app designed to help moms manage medication schedules for their aged parents or children. He was able to reach this point due to the help of a teacher named Rob Tietjen.

“I was praying for what I should do with my life, and I was led to Brother Tietjen,” Adam said. “He pushed me into entrepreneurship … and I was definitely led by the Lord into that relationship.”

Adam entered the competition and received great support from mentors at BYU-Idaho and Boise State, where his pitch impressed the judges at the competition, earning him a $5,000 prize to further develop his app.

“A lot of people think entrepreneurship is just like, you have a good idea and then all of a sudden you have a business,” Adams said. “It’s getting out there and talking to people and testing all these hypotheses until you find the right thing,”

Adam’s app, Intake, aims to alleviate the stress and worry of managing medication schedules. The app will allow users to coordinate care and track medication schedules, which hopefully provides peace of mind for caregivers.

Adam’s experiences at BYUI and his commitment to the gospel have continued to shape his path towards the future.
