“I’ll kiss his mustache if I can,” was the catch phrase of the night at last week’s show of Last Poet Standing. “‘90s Lovin’” was the winning poem on Feb 7.
Jackie Argyle, a freshman studying creative writing, won the popular vote by reading her poem with phrases and words including Bop It, Pokémon, cut-off jeans and Hawaiian shirts.
“I actually hadn’t written my poem until 6 p.m. this evening, two hours before the show. So, I read through all my Tweets. 4 days ago I tweeted about Hawaiian shirts,” Argyle said.
Poets who made it through the round have the prompt, “It’s Valentine’s Day, and I’m here at Last Poet Standing,” Feb. 14 at the MC Crossroads.
