SALT LAKE CITY– The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced the lowering of age for full-time missionaries effective immediately.
Young men now have the option of being recommended for full-time service when they are 18. Young women now have the option of leaving when they are 19. Both will have had to complete high school or the equivalent. President Monson, President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints said, “…the option is now available based on individual circumstances, as well as on a determination by local Church leaders.” The church anticipates that the lowering of the missionary age will give more options to the youth of the church and increase the number of full-time missionaries serving.
