On March 30, Light The World organizers announced total contributions raised through the Light The World Giving Machines used during the Christmas season at The Atrium in Hemming Village. The Giving Machines in Rexburg, Idaho, received more than $625,000 in donations. Organizers presented checks to local nonprofit organizations across Southeast Idaho.
"Just in 14 days, we had 28,000 visitors swipe cards over 6,000 times, purchasing tens of thousands of items," said Giving Machine Lead Brett Crandall.
The Family Crisis Center received a check for $106,670. The center plans to use the funds for transportation assistance for victims of abuse, family meals, home starter kits, new beds and one-night hotel stays to ensure safety for victims.

"The Giving Machines have been a big help for us and our business by providing us with items that families need," said John Radford, the CEO of Eastern Idaho Community Action Partnership.
Through the Giving Machine, people donated items such as shoes, hygiene supplies, meals and clothing.
People all over Rexburg donated to the Giving Machines to help those in need, along with students from BYU-Idaho.
"I was really impressed with how many BYUI students came and participated because those dollars are hard-earned for college students," Radford said.
The Giving Machines are not just a one-time event; they are coming back this year for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
"The Giving Machine is such a great opportunity for nonprofits to receive donations to help families in need, especially during the holidays," said Randy Hurley, director of Idaho Falls Humanitarian Center.
