Rexburg Meltdown, a free, local music festival, will be held on June 28, from 1-10 p.m. at Porter Park.
“It’s an all-day free event and people are welcome to come and go as they please,” said Blake Johnson, one of the organizers of Rexburg Meltdown.
The music festival will have mocktails, vendors, games, prizes and live music from 16 bands and two acoustic artists.
“Most of these vendors are all students at BYU-Idaho, too,” Johnson said.
There will be vendors selling vintage clothes, jewelry and other wares.
Rexburg Meltdown is put on by a duo including Johnson and another organizer, Seth Chamberlain.
“We are two BYU-Idaho students who are passionate about our community,” Johnson said.
Rexburg is a great place to be part of a community, according to Johnson.
“For a lot of people who don't fit into the typical Latter-Day Saint mold, it's difficult to find that community because statistically speaking, there's less of us," Johnson said.
Their mission is to raise awareness of the thriving subculture in Rexburg, according to Johnson
"People can get involved in the community and can make something bigger than themselves and make people connect," Johnson said.
