The Wonderheads, a theatre company based in Portland, Ore., will be coming to BYU-Idaho May 2-3 to share their production, “Loon.”
According to the Wonderheads website, “Loon” is the story of a man named Francis who is plagued by loneliness and falls in love with the moon.
Wonderheads productions are characterized by their oversized
Their theater company, created in 2009, consists of three actor-director-producers who all participate equally in the production process, according to the Wonderheads website.
Their oversized masks take 50-80 hours to create, according to the behind-the-scenes mask-making tutorial on the Wonderheads website. The masks lend themselves to the physical theater medium. The characters never speak, but emotions are expressed through physical movement.
Zach Garling, a student studying communication, said BYU-Idaho Center Stage felt the company’s willingness to work with the campus made it a perfect fit.
“What pulled us towards the Wonderheads theatre gro is its mix of ppetry, mime, sound and masks that gives the show its draw,” Garling said.
Tickets for the show are $6 for BYU-I students and $12 for the general public. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket office or on the Center Stage website.
